Step-by-Step Tutorial
What is a Customer Product (Paid Version) File?
A Customer Product (Paid Version) file is essentially a method of delivering the electronic product which your customer has purchased. It can be a program, game, video, ebook or other form of media.
it often makes sense to upload the file once to the Plimus system, and then rely on Plimus' powerful servers to efficiently distribute the relevant file to your customer after purchase has been completed.
Add File At Contract Set Up Stage
The file is usually added at the end the Contract Set Up stage by pressing the Click here link at the very foot of this long page. Before clicking the link make sure you have already pressed submit to save all relevant setttings on the Contract page.
The File Itself

The file can be a single plain program file or it can be bundle of files in Zip format. This enables you to include demos, help and manual files. You may also include a registration notice and/or End User License. If you need to provide more than one file we suggest that you make clear which the main product file is.
The current limit for a file download is 500 MB. If you need to upload a larger file please consult our Vendor Support team for assistance.
Note: Plimus routlnely scans all upload items for virus's and malware, and it is imperative that any file(s) uploaded to the server are free aof any such contamination. Failure to comply could result in the immediate suspension of your account for breach of the terms of your service agreement.
Uploading the File
You have a choice of uploading from your computer, uploading from the web or selecting a file that you have already set up on the Plimus platform.
For this example we'll select a file from our own computer.
Just browse and select the relevant file.
Here we are selecting the Music Blaster program.
We click Upload to upload this file to the Plimus platform.
It is essential that the file name does not contain any spaces.
Opportunity Create a CD on Demand offer
For your convenience the system automatically enables you to offer the file(s) to your customers on a Backup CD (CD on Demand) which will earn you an extra few dollars. If you want to override this proceuss just click the relevant link to amend or cancel this setting. The CD on Demand process is covered in more detail in a separate tutorial lesson.
As regards the download file itself, when successfuly uploaded it will appear, with the name and size information.
The file is also shown as being associated with the relevant contract(s).
Adding the Paid Version Download URL to your Order Email
After setting up the Paid Version File it makes sense to immediately include a reference to the download file in the email that is sent to your customer immediately after purchase.
Click the Order Email link from the relevant contract.
Use Custom Tag to Include the Product Download URL
Amend the standard text as required and use the Custom Tag <Product_Download_URL> to reference your product and include the Paid Version download file link in the post sales Email.
Press Submit to save the changes.
Your Paid Version download file and Email communication are now ready for use.
Normally the Download link is available for 48 hours or 4 downloads after purchase to reduce the potential for piracy.
You can override this limit at any time for an individual customer by Reactivating the download file from the Order Information page, or apply to Vendor support to amend the limits.
